Café Lara is a cozy spot tucked just off the bustling metro area on Rue Lajeunesse, making it a practical choice for locals and visitors looking to grab a quality coffee or a light bite without straying far from their daily routes. The cafe's decor strikes a balance between clean and thoughtfully curated, with comfortable seating options including a sofa table equipped with board games—a quiet invitation to linger over a warm drink or casual chat.

Visitors here seem to appreciate the genuinely welcoming vibe created by the owners, who treat customers with a relaxed friendliness that adds a layer of hominess often missing in busy city cafes. Whether you’re meeting friends, working on your laptop, or popping in for a quick refreshment, Café Lara offers a calm refuge with a personal touch.

Coffee offerings include solid choices like a well-crafted Americano that carries a noticeable kick, fitting for a morning boost or a midday pick-me-up. For those interested in something a bit different, the iced matcha latte comes sweetened and approachable, suited to casual drinkers rather than matcha aficionados seeking something intense. The homemade cakes—particularly the raspberry and lemon varieties—are frequently noted for their balanced sweetness and freshness, making them a worthwhile complement to the drinks.

Food-wise, the café leans toward simple, quality preparations. The vegetarian and chicken sandwiches mentioned reflect a focus on fresh ingredients and straightforward flavors without tipping into overly fancy territory, which aligns with the no-frills, comfortable atmosphere.

Best times to visit are likely mornings and early afternoons, especially if you want to catch a quieter moment during the week. The location’s proximity to the metro also makes it a convenient spot for a quick stop when in a rush, or a low-key hangout when time allows. Overall, Café Lara fits well into the day-to-day rhythm of the neighborhood, offering a blend of dependable coffee, approachable snacks, and a subdued setting that suits locals looking for a familiar and friendly corner to pause.

I’ve never written a review before, but this place truly deserves it! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warmth and treated like family. The owners were so friendly and kind. The interior is beautifully done, cozy, clean, and thoughtfully decorated, creating the perfect atmosphere to relax and enjoy your time. Whether you're sitting with friends, spending time with family, or just enjoying a quiet coffee break, it feels inviting and peaceful. The coffee was rich, flavorful, and definitely worth the price. You can really tell they care about quality. They even have Uno, chess games, and etc which made the experience even more fun and relaxing. It’s not just a coffee shop, it’s a place with heart. Highly recommend if you're looking for good coffee, good vibes, and a welcoming space to unwind

I had the Iced Matcha Latte (sweetened) and their Raspberry Cake. Both were really good. The matcha was really good, but not mind blowing. If you have an intense matcha craving, then this is probably not for you. For a regular matcha latte, it's more than enough. The raspberry cake was hands down amazing. Sweet, tangy goodness. I don't usually like fruity cakes and desserts, but this was good, even to me. There's a lot of seating and the place gives a work/study café vibe. It's really cute!! Service was 10/10, staff was kind and thoughtful, smiling and made everything comfortable. I would definitely go there again with friends.

Very nice cafe. We tried the Americano, Vegetarian Sandwich and Homemade Cake. Loved all of them. The homemade cake was great - soft, not sugary but delicious. Sandwich was nice - no frills, very nice bread. Coffee was great too. They have many different seating arrangements. The sofa table has a couple of games underneath the table - chess, uno, checkers etc. Nice place to hangout. Interiors were bright and it’s quite spacious. There’s street parking outside which is free but might be difficult to find. But there’s underground paid parking at the intersection nearby. Definitely recommended.

I was in a rush to get somewhere, and having this spot right next to the metro was the best thing! I grabbed an Americano and a chicken sandwich for a quick bite, and it turned out to be the perfect combo. The Americano had a solid kick that really set in after a few sips , and the chicken sandwich was super tasty with perfectly crispy bread. Since it was early in the morning, the place was pretty quiet, which made it feel calm and chill while I waited for my order.

I'm from Sydney, Australia, where we're spoiled for good coffee. I travel abroad a lot (including Montreal seven times) and am constantly chasing good coffee, which is so difficult to find outside of Australia. I'm not exaggerating when I say the barista at Cafe Lara has made some of the best coffee I've ever had. I've returned four times in the last three days. Firat is a cool, young, professionally trained barista. He uses "Barista" coffee beans, which I hadn't heard of before. His coffee has been consistently good - very smooth, perfect temperature, and really delicious. I drink what we call a piccolo back home (4oz single-shot latte) and he nailed it. Beyond the coffee, the staff are very friendly, the cafe sells sandwiches, salads, and desserts (I've eaten the chicken sandwich, which was great, and there are vegetarian options), the atmosphere is pleasant, they have complimentary wi-fi, and they open early and close late. There are a couple of seats outside, and inside you'll find a variety of seating options - standard dining-style tables for 2 or 4, a couch, and a couple of high tables with barstools. It's a very comfortable setting. I'm going to miss it when I leave Montreal on Monday.

I have been waiting for it to open for a long time, it is very nice and I liked it very much. While some students were studying with coffee, a few people were playing "uno". My girlfriend and I played chess with coffee. Their Canadiano Coffee was amazing :) There was a very sweet couple who took care of us. I forgot their names but thank you both very much we liked it very much and I recommend it to everyone
